Professionals are being offered an intensive training programme to help them build a comprehensive understanding of the role of risk and compliance when developing, implementing, and operating renewable energy projects in order to succeed and achieve the sustainability of projects. As the number of renewable energy sources expands (solar, wind, hydro, and new clean technologies) organisations are being presented with an ever-increasing level of exposure to many different regulatory complexity and operational uncertainty issues, as well as, related to risk and governance.

Delivered by Imperial Corporate Training Institute. The Renewable Energy Risk and Compliance Management Training Course offers participants the opportunity to explore (in a structured and practical manner) the regulatory compliance requirements, the risks specific to each sector, and the internationally recognised governance frameworks that guide responsible decision-making within the Renewable Energy sector.

The Training Course uses a comprehensive and industry-aligned approach to demonstrate how regulatory compliance impacts the operational risk portfolio along the entire renewable energy value chain, and how policies, standards, and legal obligations (introduced earlier) affect the progression of renewable energy projects from inception to operation (including development, construction and operational management, as well as, long-term asset support). Finally, the Training Course will provide insight into how a strong governance framework provides transparency, accountability, and resilience, which allow for the efficient management of uncertainty in a rapidly changing energy environment whilst maintaining performance, reliability, and public trust in an organisation.

Objectives

By the end of this Renewable Energy Risk and Compliance Management Training Course, participants will be able to:

  • Learn about and understand all levels of regulatory compliance related to renewable energy projects both locally and globally.
  • Determine and evaluate the types of operational risk specific to renewable energy technologies and the environments surrounding those projects.
  • Utilise governance frameworks to provide greater visibility, accountability and ethical decision-making at all levels of the renewable energy organisations.
  • Determine the risk exposure for a renewable energy project based on its lifecycle; that is, from the planning and development phase, through operating the project and finally through the decommissioning phase.
  • Create structured risk management processes that align with industry best practice and regulatory expectations.
  • Determine the compliance obligations of your organisation relative to environmental protection, health and safety, grid integration and market participation, using a compliance analysis framework.
  • Assess the role of internal controls, audits and reporting processes in enhancing compliance and mitigating risk. Align your risk and compliance strategy with the organisation’s strategic plan, sustainability goals and long term operational objectives.
  • Enhance organisational decision-making through the application of risk based analytical techniques and through implementing governance practices that have a strong compliance orientation.
  • Support organisational resilience by incorporating regulatory compliance, operational risk management and governance frameworks into daily business operations.
