The Imperial Corporate Training Institute is offering the Renewable Energy Decarbonization Strategies Training Course, which is an intermediate level professional development program for workers in the renewable energy sector. This course will cover the necessary strategic and technical elements needed to successfully create, manage and deliver on decarbonization initiatives in their organization’s energy system.

The focus of this workshop will be on transitioning from carbon-based to low and zero carbon energy systems. This transition includes both the technology required to implement change, as well as the organizational and procedural changes necessary to accommodate this technology. Participants will leave this workshop with a well-rounded understanding of how these various components of the clean energy transition relate to each other. In addition, they will also learn how to implement the above concepts into their own organization’s decarbonization efforts.

Each unit of the course will include a discussion of various emissions reduction strategies that can help organizations, governments, and electric utilities create a path to measurable, achievable results. This course considers the various emission reduction strategies within the clean energy transition as being phased in nature, encompassing the completion of technology adoption, infrastructure improvement, behaviour modification, and regulatory compliance. Each participant will also be provided with an opportunity to critically examine their own organization’s energy use and identify opportunities for decarbonization, while also creating action plans to meet the decarbonization requirements of both local and national climate change initiatives.
