The SIPROD (Simultaneous Drilling and Production) Offshore Facility Operations Training Course, which has been created by Imperial Corporate Training Institute, is a comprehensive, industry-aligned training programme to assist with overcoming the operational, safety, and management challenges related to simultaneously carrying out drilling and production operations on offshore facilities. The use of SIPROD operations is growing as part of the offshore oil and gas industry’s efforts to become more time-efficient, to lower costs, and to maximise asset utilisation. SIPROD operations, however, also create many complexities due to their increased risk exposure at the drilling/production interface; thus, they require advanced coordination, adherence to strict offshore safety policies, and a high level of operational control.
This training programme offers a comprehensive review of SIPROD concepts, offshore facility layout and design, onshore and offshore operational philosophies, and conditions under which drilling and production teams can safely and effectively operate simultaneously, thus preserving the integrity of both assets and the environment.
To facilitate the participant’s learning of SIPROD, the course consists of a series of structured modules designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of the challenges presented by SIPROD, as well as how to effectively manage the various interfaces that will be encountered between drilling rigs, production systems, marine operations, and support service providers. Additionally, the course includes modules covering methods of implementing offshore safety best practices, meeting regulatory compliance requirements, and developing practical solutions in high-risk environments. By completing this training, participants will be adequately trained and prepared to support the continuation of safe and productive SIPROD offshore operations.
Objectives
By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:
- Understand how SIPROD operates in offshore oil and gas
- Describe the benefits and issues with drilling while producing oil and gas.
- Identify and control the situations or risks during drilling.
- Use offshore safety principles for your work in a SIPROD environment.
- Understand how the layout of a facility is designed and how it’s built around other equipment when SIPROD is used.
- Use an effective permit-to-work and isolation system.
- Coordinate drilling and production to reduce interference with each other.
- Have a process to assess risks and identify hazards for SIPROD operations.
- Understand the rules and regulations about the authorisation and compliance for offshore SIPROD facilities.
- Increase the number of people who communicate and work together on a common goal across the different disciplines of offshore.
